Merry Christmas

This baby, born three weeks ago, is a special Christmas present for her family. The gift of a baby is what this season is all about.
A child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

God gave us the gift of a Savior, born as a tiny, precious baby, to be Emmanuel - God with us. May His peace, joy and love be with you this Christmas season.

A good reason to cancel an appointment

On the day I was booked to shoot some belly pictures of this little guy, his dad called me to cancel the appointment—from the hospital! He arrived a bit early, and a week later I was at their place to take these newborn photos.

Calgary's Cutest Kid Contest

A local radio station is hosting a contest to find Calgary's cutest kid. I've received notices that several kids I know were entered. In fact, I've taken pictures of several of them in the last few months. Take a look at these cuties and judge for yourself. And if you have a moment, take a look at the galleries and vote for the cutest.

Baby burrito

This sweet girl looked so cute all swaddled in her cozy pink blanket. But it was no time at all until she wriggled her arm out. I love newborn pictures. They're so unpredictable. You just have to be patient and wait for the moment.

Sweet baby girl

I love making photos of newborns. They're so beautiful. And it's such a privilege to be among the first visitors. These pictures were captured when Naiya was not quite two weeks old. Her parents were already settling into their new role and they were so comfortable and willing to do whatever I suggested (even at the risk of the inevitable accidents that happened when the diaper came off.) Tina has been more than a client. She's offered so much support and inspiration. I'm so happy that I could give her these pictures of her beautiful daughter, and I look forward to watching this family grow.

Milestones

Following a family through milestones is an honor. I've made new friends taking family photos year after year, and I've had the opportunity to document the major events in old friends' lives.

One of those great friends is Andrea. Since I was actually in her wedding party, I didn't get to shoot the wedding, but I did manage to pull out my camera for a couple of in-between and reception shots.

A little more than a year later, I documented the arrival of their first child. Then came a family Christmas photo and, most recently, one-year photos with the little guy crawling and taking assisted steps.

This kid smiles with his whole face. From his sparkling blue eyes, to his crinkled nose, and his toothy grin. He's a great kid, with a sweet personality, which I think he gets from his mother (although his dad's a good guy, too!) I look forward to more fun times with these friends, with and without the camera, in the future. Who knows, I may even be around for the little man's wedding.
